The Method

Children are  intelligent, active, and purposeful.

The method is based on three interconnected elements.

Teachers as Guides

The main task of the teacher is to foster the child’s development rather than transmit knowledge.  Montessori educators are specially trained to monitor student progress, diagnose needed interventions, and plan future work.

Prepared Environments

The Montessori classroom is a rich, specially prepared and developmentally appropriate environment that invites the child to active, purposeful engagement.

An Ethic of Care

.  Guided by their teachers within the prepared environment, children develop at their own pace. Teachers offer quiet respect for children's needs and capacities as learners.
